Our Friday started by meeting at Chukyo High School where we had to load up the van with musical instruments. The school's boys baseball team was outside while we were packing up and were a bit shy but delighted to let our girls know they were pretty. Once packed we headed off to Hida elementary school where we met and played English games with the students. Lauren gave a great speech to the students.
The Concert band and Jazz band performed and Drime students handed WRCA / Chukyo pencils out to students. The way it works is to get more students to go to the Chukyo International Program, then more can come to WRCA and get the chance to experience a Christian home and school. If they then get saved they can go back to Japan and be a part of the Church that Pastor Fast established.
Mr. Michel then presented a plaque to their principal in memory of our visit. When we got back to Chukyo the student noticed welcome signs for each of them. They had lunch in the courtyard where they interacted with Japanese students and also took part in their PE classes. After school we went and saw some of the clubs and teams...Judo where several of the students learn to flip another competitor such as Bryn did to a 300 lbs fellow!
The Kendo club was loud and violent, and the Archery club was precise and silent. The Archery coach gave our school a special arrow to place in our school to commemorate our schools' friendship. Everyone headed back to their homestays where I hope they all sent you a nice email!
